The following pages document the building of William Garden's Tomcat - a 12'6" catboat that was built at the Silva Bay Shipyard School during the 2006/07 school session. Please excuse thweb chaos as this section is being reworked slowly but surely....


jan Here is the garboard and broadstrake installed with silicon bronze screws. The orange paint is red lead primer - which will help prevent rot. Planking will continue for at least 2 weeks and then we can start fairing the hull.

This is the centerboard getting glued up. It is made up of 3 layers of marine plywood epoxied together for strength.
This is the monster rudder. It is also marine ply and the cheeks will be finished bright with paint on the water line.
David is working on the centerboard housing and bedlogs. Fir and red cedar.
The orange is red lead paint inside the centerboard slot.
